By GlobalDataThe biennial Asia Cup last took place in 2018, with India the winners, before the 2020 edition was postponed due to the initial surge of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s tournament, which will be a Twenty20 competition, with the format alternating between T20 and One-Day Internationals for each edition, has therefore been delayed from two years ago, with the scheduled 2022 Asia Cup now set to take place next year in Pakistan.
Sri Lanka was initially due to stage the Asia Cup this year but the ACC switched it to the UAE in July due to the political and economic turmoil in the country.
YuppTV is used to showing top-tier T20 cricket, having covered previous editions of the Asia Cup and the last three editions of the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise competition in over 100 countries, predominantly in continental Europe, Central and South America, and Southeast Asia.
The service also aired the men’s ICC T20 World Cup last year, as well as Indian home international matches and the ICC Champions Trophy.
YuppTV also showed the ICC Cricket World Cup in June and July 2019 and the Under-19 World Cup in February 2020 (both across Europe and Central Asia).
Uday Reddy, founder and chief executive of YuppTV, said: "The world of cricket has always been special to us, as it is for the people across the world. Needless to say, the 15th edition of the Asia Cup will be a thrilling affair."
