The US city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was yesterday (July 27) announced as the host for WrestleMania 40, the 2024 edition of the flagship event held by the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) promotion.
The show will be held at the city’s Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles, of American football’s NFL, on April 6 and 7 in two years’ time.
A host of other events will run in the week’s build-up, including WWE’s Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown and the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony.
WWE will also host a number of community outreach initiatives.
Among the venues for the supporting events will be the Wells Fargo Center and the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The next edition of Wrestlemania, the 39th, will be held at California’s SoFi Stadium across the weekend on April 1 and 2, 2023.

Over the past decade, WWE says WrestleMania has generated more than $1.25 billion in cumulative economic impact for the cities that have hosted the event.
Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney added: “We are proud to welcome WWE fans from around the world to Philadelphia to be a part of the historic 40th WrestleMania in 2024. The week-long series of events will help put a global spotlight on our great city while also generating a major impact for our local economy.”
Philadelphia Eagles president and chair of the city’s PHL Sports events advocacy group Don Smolenski added: “The Philadelphia Eagles are thrilled to partner with WWE as WrestleMania makes its much-anticipated return to Philadelphia in 2024. We are excited to help showcase the industry’s most iconic event in front of a global viewing audience and look forward to providing WWE fans in attendance with a first-class experience at Lincoln Financial Field.”
