Australian Sailing, the national governing body for the sport, has announced the launch of a 10-year strategic plan.
'Sailing 2032', which comprises the three strategic pillars of 'support, grow, and win', will help guide Australian Sailing as it seeks to develop the sport in the country over the coming decade.
The plan was made in collaboration with a range of stakeholders including yachting associations, clubs and their members, volunteers, class association representatives, and Discover Sailing Centres (those accredited to deliver Australian Sailing training programs).
Daniel Belcher, president at Australian Sailing, said: “Sailing is an iconic part of Australian culture, and Sailing 2032 charts the future direction of sailing in Australia, ensuring our sailing community continues to thrive.
He added: “Our Purpose is to grow sailing by leading, inspiring, and supporting sailors and their communities.”
Ben Houston, chief executive at Australian Sailing, added: “We will be reshaping the organization to deliver this new strategy, which is designed to help clubs with retention and growing capability, growing membership, and increasing participation.”
