Premier Sports, the UK and Ireland pay-television broadcaster, has entered into a distribution deal with online retail giant Amazon.
The deal entails all five channels under the Premier Sports banner – Premier Sports 1, Premier Sports 2, LaLigaTV, FreeSports and BoxNation – being made available on the Amazon Prime live content streaming service from today (13 December), with Prime members now able to access all five channels via an add-on subscription worth £14.99 per month ($19.88).
The deal means the UK and Ireland-based Prime subscribers will get access to sporting content including every game from Spanish soccer’s top-tier LaLiga, Scottish soccer’s cup competitions and all action from the United Rugby Championship.
In 2022, meanwhile, content including top-tier international cricket on FreeSports, cup soccer from Spain, Italy and Germany and North American ice hockey’s NHL will all be made available on Amazon Prime through Premier Sports as well.
Richard Sweeney, Premier Sports’ chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be able to launch on Amazon to increase the visibility of our channels … Our channels have built up a loyal following of football, rugby union, rugby league, motorsport, ice hockey and boxing fans amongst others since we launched and we’re thrilled we can offer this and much more to Amazon customers.”
