Telemundo, the Spanish-language network of USA’s NBCUniversal, has secured rights to NFL American football’s Super Bowl in 2022.
The network has said this represents the first time the event will be televised by an exclusive Spanish-language broadcast network in the US.
Previously, coverage had only been available on Spanish editions of cable networks, such as Universo, the NBC pay-television channel, and Fox Deportes.
Super Bowl LVI takes place in Los Angeles on 13 February, 2022.
Telemundo will also continue as the sole Spanish-language home of the NFL's Sunday Night Football for the next 13 seasons.
The package, already secured by NBC, includes all Sunday night regular-season games, the NFL Kickoff game, one Thanksgiving game, one playoff encounter and two wild card games.

By GlobalDataTelemundo first showed NFL action in 2012, and the extension means SNF continues on the network through to the end of the 2033 campaign.
The 2020 season marked the first time SNF was available through Telemundo.
Ray Warren, Telemundo Deportes’ president, said: “We are thrilled to partner with the NFL to be the first to showcase the Super Bowl on a Spanish-language broadcast network and to bring the entire SNF schedule to the growing US Hispanic NFL audience.”
Amanda Herald, the NFL’s vice-president of marketing strategy, added: “We are especially excited to expand Telemundo broadcast coverage to Super Bowl LVI as we look to engage fans both in the host city of Los Angeles – the largest Spanish speaking region in the country – and nationwide.”
Telemundo will complement its linear coverage with dedicated programming on digital platforms, as well as highlights and other features.
Universo will continue to present NFL action in the 2021 campaign as well, showing 22 games which NBC has rights to.
Earlier this month, internet giant Amazon brought forward its deal to cover NFL Thursday Night Football, which will begin in 2022, a year earlier than planned, with Fox relinquishing the rights.
Fox, CBS, ESPN and Amazon all hold NFL rights through to 2033 in extended deals worth around $110 billion.
