E1, the all-electric motorboat racing series, has announced a new race in Dubrovnik, Croatia, will debut in 2025 as it finalizes this year's race calendar.

As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Croatian city will provide a coastal backdrop for the nine teams to compete at the inaugural Dubrovnik GP, running from June 13 to 14, with the race track located between the Old City and Lokrum Island.

Local hotel chain Adriatic Luxury Hotels will serve as the race’s presenting partner.

The race weekend will include testing, free practice, and qualifications on June 13, followed by playoff races, elimination rounds, and the final race on June 14.

E1’s founder and chief executive Rodi Basso has said: “This ancient city is a superb addition to E1’s race calendar.

“E1 will be working closely with the Croatian Government and the Croatian National Tourist Board to help ensure a lasting positive impact and accelerate a sustainable future for the city.”

E1 has changed the locations and timings of its 2025 races since announcing a provisional expanded seven-race schedule last November.

At the time, the series said it would add three more races in April, October, and November to join confirmed stops in Jeddah, Qatar, Monaco, and Lake Como (Italy).

In December, Miami, Florida, was announced as the series-ending race of the 2025 campaign on November 7 and 8. It will mark the first time the property has staged an event outside Europe and the Middle East.

In March, it was announced that Lake Maggorie would replace Lake Como as the series’ Italian leg in June. Lagos Lagoon in Nigeria, meanwhile, became the series’ African stop on October 4 and 5 last week.

However, E1 said it had dropped the unconfirmed stop planned for April, with the new Croatia stop in June now completing the seven-race calendar.

Last November, the series named Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund as the serving partner for the series, with the competition renamed the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF.

Meanwhile, in February, E1 announced it had expanded the global broadcast coverage for this year’s series with several new broadcast deals, including Nordic streaming service Viaplay, the MENA regional broadcaster MBC, and OTT service DAZN.

Other rights partnerships were secured in India with streaming service FanCode, in Australia with FanSports, across Eastern Europe and Central Asia with Setanta Sports, and in Africa with Sporty Africa.

It also renewed its rights deals with UK public broadcaster ITV, the US’ CBS, Arena Sports across the Balkans, and Globo in Brazil.

The 2025 E1 season, the series’ second, began on January 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
