The Saudi Pro League (SPL) soccer competition has brought global electronics giant Samsung on board as a new sponsor in a short-term tie-up.
Through an agreement unveiled today, Samsung becomes a gold partner of the 18-team SPL through the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.
The deal will see Samsung “contribute to the SPL’s technological innovation and fan experience."
Mohammed Basrawi, general manager of marketing and communications at the SPL, said: “This partnership reflects our commitment to working with global industry leaders to enhance the league’s growth and deliver the latest in technological innovation. We look forward to a successful collaboration that will bring new experiences to the SPL and its fans.”
Other significant SPL commercial partners include Saudi real estate developer Roshn (the league’s title partner until 2027), as well as the Saudi Tourism Authority, PepsiCo, and Medgulf.
The 2024-25 SPL season runs through late May, with Al Ittihad currently leading the way.
In terms of Samsung’s sports sponsorship presence, meanwhile, late January saw a new deal with US stock car racing’s Nascar announced.
