Japanese streaming platform U-Next now holds rights to all four men’s golf majors, having secured exclusive rights to the prestigious US Open and US PGA Championship.
U-Next becomes the first Japanese broadcaster to hold rights for all four majors during the same season – it also holds rights to show this year's Masters and the British Open.
This year’s PGA Championship is set for May 15 to 18 in North Carolina, while the 2025 US Open will be held at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania between June 12 and 15.
The 2024 edition of the US Open was shown live in Japan by heavyweight streaming service DAZN, as was last year’s PGA Championship.
Outside of the majors, U-Next also covers European men’s golf’s DP World Tour, through an agreement announced in December, and has shown PGA Tour action since 2022.
In addition, it is currently broadcasting the inaugural season of the TGL, the tech-infused golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports entertainment venture making its debut in Florida.
Finally, another aspect of U-Next’s announcement today sees its coverage of the various Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association (JLPGA) tours become exclusive for the 2025 season.
Outside of golf, U-Next’s rights portfolio includes men’s tennis’ ATP Tour for the next five seasons, English Premier League soccer, Spanish soccer’s LaLiga, and mixed martial arts’ Professional Fighters League.
Domestically, meanwhile, the 2025 US Open will be shown live by the range of NBCUniversal platforms, while the PGA Championship will be split between ESPN and Paramount.
