The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) of Twenty20 franchise cricket’s Indian Premier League, have significantly expanded their commercial deal with Etihad Airways.
The United Arab Emirates’ national airline has now become the team’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2025 IPL, which will begin on March 21.
The deal between the two parties first came into effect last year, with Etihad signing on as an associate sponsor of CSK for the 2024 IPL (with its logo featured on the backs of the players’ shirts). GlobalData Sport has valued that partnership at $1 million.
Express transportation company FedEx has now snapped up back-of-shirt CSK rights for the 2025 IPL, in a deal that also stretches across the other affiliate teams in the Super Kings group.
Throughout the upcoming 2025 IPL, there will be in-venue activations from Etihad, at CSK’s M. A. Chidambaram home stadium, while the pair will also collaborate on content – featuring players – across the Etihad social media channels.
Last season, other major CSK commercial partners included Gulf Oil, Coca-Cola, India Cements (run by the team’s owners), and JSW Paints.

By GlobalDataHaving won the IPL in 2023, CSK could only finish fifth in the 10-team league last campaign, thus failing to make the post-season playoffs.
Etihad is an active sponsor across a range of top-tier sporting teams, most notably as the front-of-shirt sponsor and stadium naming rights partner for English Premier League soccer champions Manchester City.
