The European Handball Federation (EHF) governing body has extended its partnership with Kinexon Sport, the sports arm of the German tracking and analytics company, to cover the next six EHF European Championship tournaments.
The deal will run through 2028 and include the 2026 and 2028 editions of the men’s and women’s Euros, and will likely also include the men’s and women’s editions of the EuroCup in 2026.
Kinexon’s partnership with the EHF began in 2020, with the firm working to enhance the technology utilized by the EHF at international tournaments by instituting its real-time player and ball-tracking technology (iBall) at the events.
These data-driven applications, which provide real-time movement of players and the ball through the use of built-in sensors, are of use to each team in the competitions.
In extending the deal, Kinexon will also continue the iBall project, a collaboration with official EHF ball manufacturer Select.
The exploration of new tech solutions will also be a priority of the pair over the next four EHF competitions, including interactions with other EHF partners as part of a new roadmap for advancing the sport of handball through data integration.

By GlobalDataSpeaking on the partnership renewal, EHF secretary general Martin Hausleitner stated: “The technology provided [by Kinexon] is an exciting element for our fans in the arena and at home, as it allows them to follow the match enriched with information and data directly from the court.
“Furthermore, it is a valuable tool for our stakeholders, federations, coaches, and experts as the players' performance metrics offer unprecedented insights into the game and allow us to revolutionize team performance analysis.”
Kinexon Sports vice president for leagues and federations, Christian Günther, added: “Over the past six tournaments, the EHF and Kinexon have evolved together continuously. We are particularly proud to not only continue this innovation story but also to make the value of our data accessible to even more stakeholders alongside the EHF.”
