SailGP, the international sailing series, has unveiled telecoms company Ericsson as its global technology supplier for the 2025 season.

Through the agreement, Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions will provide SailGP teams and personnel with 5G connectivity, which the series claims with improve fan experiences and race operations.

Additionally, the solutions will support SailGP umpires to adjudicate on race protocol through 5G-enabled live camera streaming from competing F50s and insights into team locations, tactics, and strategy. 

SailGP initially worked with Ericsson and T-Mobile to test and deploy Ericsson Private 5G solution over T-Mobile’s 5G spectrum at US events in season four. The solution will be installed and deployed in all F50s and rolled out globally for the 2025 season.

SailGP has brought several new commercial partners on board in recent months, including a deal earlier this month with Accor as its first official hotel partner.

The series also agreed a new deal with DP World, and significant deal expansions with Emirates and Rolex (now in as the series’ title partner).
