The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) governing body has launched a new request for information (RFI) for broadcast rights bids to the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.

The RFI is centered upon the European region, with the IPC setting a deadline of January 24, 2025, for broadcasters on the continent to register their interest in securing the rights in their respective territories.

This RFI covers both free-to-air and pay-TV rights, as well as streaming services, digital platforms, and radio broadcasters, amounting to a total of 300 hours of live games coverage, with digital-only ancillary content also provided.

Bidders can also apply for non-exclusive access to the IPC’s archive of Winter Paralympics content, which holds over 14,500 hours of footage.

The 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will take place in Milano-Cortina, Italy, from March 6-15, 2026.

Speaking on this announcement, IPC managing director for global media rights John Lisoko stated: “Through this RFI, we want to hear from media rights holders eager to maximize engagement with European audiences, excited to place persons with disabilities at the heart of their productions, and enthusiastic at playing a key role in the inclusion revolution.”

Ahead of the Paralympic Winter Games 2022, hosted in China, the European media rights for that event were snapped up by sports and media agency heavyweight Infront, which also secured the rights for the 2024 Paralympic Games for Europe at the same time.

Rights for the 2026 edition of the games in Europe will likely be more sought after than the 2022 version as it marks the games’ return to the continent for the first time since 2014, when it took place in Sochi, Russia, and Western Europe in particular for the first time since Turin, Italy, in 2006.
