The eight personalities who will make up the 2024 jury for the Sportel Awards, which will take place from 27 to
29 October at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, were revealed on Thursday 10 October.
Presided over by an icon of French fencing, Laura Flessel-Colovic, former Minister of Sports, five-time Olympic
medallist, six-time world champion, one-time European champion, and eighteen-time French champion, the jury
of this new edition brings together several sports celebrities from various backgrounds.
Alongside “the wasp,” as she is nicknamed, and who remains the most decorated French athlete in the Olympics
across all disciplines, will be Pauline Déroulède, France’s No.1 wheelchair tennis player, this extraordinary athlete
with a mind of steel, triple French champion (2021, 2022 and 2023).
Also on the jury is dancer, photographer, and
artistic director Mathieu Forget, with his keen eye on sports images. Known as “The Flying Man,” for his talent in
capturing the fleeting movement of an athlete in mid-air, Forget will bring his expertise in selecting the most
beautiful sports sequences of the year.
Also joining this impressive jury will be Jackson Richardson, the man who transformed the destiny of French
handball. With a record 417 appearances for the National Team, double world champion, named World’s Best
Player in 1995, and France’s Best Player of the 20th century, Richardson, who is also the chef de mission for the
French Olympic team at the Paris Olympics, will have a crucial role in this year's panel.
Céline Jobert, a prominent figure in sports marketing in France, specialising in innovative and engaging
communication strategies, will also be part of the jury. As president of LAFOURMI agency and The Fan Syndicate,
the first independent communications group dedicated to the sports industry in France, Jobert will share her
expertise in sports business to help determine the winners of the Golden Podiums and the Renaud de Laborderie
Book Prize 2024.

2024 Autobiography Prize to Dominique Rocheteau
The Autobiography Prize, which recognises the sports personality who has written the best autobiography of the
year, will be awarded to Dominique Rocheteau for his book Foot Set(mental (published by Le Cherche Midi). A
title that resonates with the idealism of the "Green Angel," the international player with 49 caps, an iconic figure
for Saint-Étienne in the 1970s, striker for Paris Saint-Germain with 100 goals and Toulouse, who also participated
in three World Cups with the French national team.
Drawing on his personal experiences, Dominique Rocheteau also addresses ethical issues, stadium violence, the
omnipresence of money, media pressure, the passion of supporters, the determination of female players to
whom he pays a beautiful tribute, and the unwavering dedication of volunteers, without whom the world of
football would grind to a halt.
This memoir of a unique football career recalls the great journeys of his prominent clubs. A multiple French
champion, finalist in the famous European Cup of Champions Clubs in 1976 with ASSE, and Euro '84 winner,
Dominique Rocheteau opens up in this autobiography, sharing numerous memories and anecdotes, taking the
reader back to moments of excitement from an era not so far removed.
The Autobiography Prize will be presented during the SPORTEL Awards ceremony on Monday, October 28, at
7:45 PM, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
