BeIN Sports, the pay-TV heavyweight, will remain the home of North American basketball’s NBA in France for the upcoming season.

The Qatar-based broadcaster will retain rights it has held in the country since 2012, according to L’Equipe.

There is significant NBA interest in France with the presence of young French superstar Victor Wembanyama.

The Wembanyama hype will also see his San Antonio Spurs side play two regular season games in Paris this season.

The Spurs will face the Indiana Pacers on January 23 and 25 next year – the first time an NBA team will play two games in the French capital in the same season.

Despite being a long-term NBA broadcaster in France, BeIN has only signed a short-term renewal.

As part of its major new rights deal in the US, the NBA recently announced that retail giant Amazon will broadcast some games in France between 2025 and 2036.

The platform will offer 86 regular season matches, the NBA Cup, the entire play-in tournament, approximately a third of the first and second rounds of the play-offs, a conference final each year and the NBA finals in six of the 11 years of the contract.

Starting in 2025-2026, the NBA League Pass will continue to be available in France, either via the NBA website or Prime Video Channels.

The 2024-25 NBA regular season will begin on October 22 with the reigning champions the Boston Celtics opening against the New York Knicks.
