Galaxy Racer (GXR), the Dubai-based transmedia company, has acquired rights to top European soccer leagues in Spain, Italy and France across the Indian subcontinent.

The GXR app will provide live streams of the Spanish LaLiga, Italian Serie A – including the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa – and France’s top-flight Ligue 1 and second-tier Ligue 2.

The deal with LaLiga will run for the next six years, while the agreements with Serie A and Ligue 1 are for four years.

GXR is airing the matches of the three leagues live on a free-to-air basis for fans in the Indian subcontinent.

The content will soon be available in multiple regional languages, including Bengali, Malayalam and Hindi.

As well as live streaming coverage, GXR will also offer users an immersive fan experience through its Super App.

With media rights for three of Europe’s biggest leagues, GXR is seeking to position itself to become “the largest European soccer rights holder in India.”

Paul Roy, Galaxy Racer chief executive, said: “The appetite for high-quality football content in India is immense, and with GXR’s Super App, we aim to cater to this demand in a way that has never been done before.

“Through our expertise in key areas like licensing, content creation, esports, influencer and talent management, merchandising, and music, we’re offering a truly unique and immersive football experience to the Indian audience.”

GXR’s rights deal with LaLiga represents an expansion of their existing relationship after teaming up in 2022 for a long-term joint venture (JV) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and Indian subcontinent.

Under a 15-year agreement, GXR is serving as LaLiga’s local partner in the regions with the league expecting to generate over €3 billion ($2.5 billion) in revenue from the tie-up.

LaLiga and GXR, founded in 2019 by Roy, each hold a 50% stake in the UAE-based entity, which is acting as the media rights agency for the broadcast and media rights for the MENA market and Indian subcontinent.
