All-electric off-road motorsport series Extreme E has abruptly cancelled the remaining races in its 2024 schedule.
The UK-based series – which will transition to Extreme H (hydrogen) in 2025 – has now announced the removal from the calendar of the remaining events, split across Sardinia and the US (set to mark the series’ debut in the latter country).
Extreme E has said it is now “reviewing alternative solutions for its remaining rounds,” which were due to take place later in September (Sardinia) and in late November (the US).
Alejandro Agag, founder and chief executive of the motor racing series, explained: “In this current year of evolution, we all want to find a conclusion to Extreme E, which enables us to finish what we started, whilst at the same time, allows us to commit maximum resource into our Extreme H developments.
“We are working closely with our teams and stakeholders to find alternative solutions to fulfill Extreme E’s final season schedule.”
So far, Extreme E events in 2024 have taken place in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and Scotland.
