The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) will receive broader exposure after partnering with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for streaming coverage on its Eurovision Sport platform.
As part of the deal, live content and highlights packages from the World Orienteering Championships, European Orienteering Championships, and the Orienteering World Cup will be available on the streaming service, which launched last February.
Additionally, the full 2024 orienteering season will be covered with commentary in multiple languages.
The deal began last weekend on May 25, with the platform featuring highlights from the Orienteering World Cup races in Olten, Switzerland.
The 2024 World Orienteering Championships will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland from July 12 to 16, and will be broadcast live on Eurovision Sport in France, Germany, and the UK, while highlights will be distributed globally.
All competitions can also be seen live worldwide on the IOF’s pay-per-view TV platform, IOF TV.

By GlobalDataHenrik Eliasson, chief executive of the International Orienteering Federation, said: “We have been working continuously for several years to improve the quality of our TV broadcasts with drones, running cameramen, and GPS tracking, which is appreciated by the audience and has contributed to increased viewing figures for our TV partners.
“The agreement with the EBU is further proof that our sport is becoming more popular all over the world and we are really pleased to have been able to secure live coverage in major markets like France, Germany, and the UK thanks to Eurovision Sport.”
Meanwhile, the EBU has also extended its media rights partnership with the Romania Ski and Biathlon Federation until 2027.
The three-year renewal covers the FIS men's and women’s Ski Jumping World Cups and Summer Ski Jumping Grand Prix events.
Mixed ski jumping events and any FIS World Cup events in other skiing World Cup disciplines that might be allocated to Romania could also be included.
The tie-up between the two parties originally began in 2016.
