Major League Baseball (MLB) will produce and distribute local games during the 2024 season for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres.
The league has launched a new channel finder for fans of the three MLB teams to help viewers locate where to watch matches depending on the video distributor they use, including DirecTV, Comcast, Cox, Charter, and Fubo.
As a result, the league can make a direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming option available for the three clubs, which eliminates blackouts of local games.
The DTC streaming options are available at Dbacks.TV, Padres.TV, and Rockies.TV.
MLB took control of the Padres and Diamondbacks broadcasts in May and July of 2023 respectively, following the bankruptcy proceedings of the teams’ domestic partner Diamond Sports Group.
DSG was navigating bankruptcy proceedings since March 2023 amid significant financial losses caused by the initial $10.6 billion it paid to purchase rights for 21 US teams from the Fox network in 2019. Court filings had shown its RSNs had also lost 22 million subscribers and $810 million in revenue in recent years.

By GlobalDataDSG recently entered into a major deal with a group of creditors to come out of its almost year-long bankruptcy proceedings.
The company, a unit of Sinclair Broadcast Group which owns a range of regional sports networks in the US, will receive funding from retail giant Amazon, as part of a wider content streaming deal between the two organizations.
DSG has worked out separate agreements with its rights partners in MLB, basketball’s NBA, and ice hockey’s NHL, where its RSNs will continue to televise the teams’ games on its Bally Sports network in their respective home markets through the end of the 2023-24 seasons.
Regarding the 11 MLB clubs that remain affiliated with DSG, the local rights will expire at the end of this coming campaign, which begins today.
Last month, a US bankruptcy court approved the beleaguered media company's $495 million settlement from Sinclair and $450 million debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing package.
