Genius Sports, the international sports data technology company, has today unveiled it has entered into a period of exclusive negotiations with the UK’s Football DataCo (FDC).
That body, jointly owned by English soccer’s top-tier Premier League, second-tier English Football League (EFL), and the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), is now negotiating solely with Genius around official betting rights for those competitions across the 2025-29 cycle.
If and when Genius seals that deal, it will mark an extension of the company’s Football DataCo relationship, with the current betting data partnership running through until the end of the 2024-25 season.
That tie-up began in 2019, since which point Genius has been the exclusive low-latency data supplier to the sports betting industry from the aforementioned English and Scottish soccer leagues.
That original deal between FDC and Genius eventually led to a legal challenge from industry rival Sportradar, however.
The tender process for this new set of rights, for five seasons through 2028-29, began in late January.

By GlobalDataIn that same month, FDC also issued a request for proposals for a new data partner.
That process covers the provision of event data collection services, data capture, storage, and media distribution services from the start of the 2025-26 English and Scottish soccer seasons.
FDC’s current deal covering that set of rights is with Stats Perform, the international sports data and technology provider, running until the end of the 2024-25 season.
Genius, meanwhile, announced an increase in revenue of more than 20% for the fourth quarter and full year of 2023, earlier this month.
