By GlobalDataThe tournament, which has a total prize purse of €300,000 ($322,866), is a regular event on the tour, having run since 2019, and is title-sponsored by Czech betting firm Tipsport.
The €300,000 prize pot is close to triple the €120,000 on offer at the inaugural Czech Ladies Open, indicating the growing fortunes of women’s golf in the country, signified by the fact that no fewer than four Czech golfers will feature in every event on the 2024 LET, including Kristýna Napoleaová, who won the 2023 German Masters.
O2 in the Czech Republic is owned by the PPF group, which licenses the O2 branding from telecoms giant Telefonica but bears no other relation to the UK firm of the same name.
Through the LET, golfers will be able to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, with Czech participation already confirmed. The Olympics, however, will not be broadcast on O2, with free-to-air broadcaster Czech Television securing the rights instead.
LET chief executive Alexandra Armas stated: “Our tournaments will showcase stellar courses and golf entertainment in 20 different countries, and provide significant global opportunities for our players. It's an exciting time with Olympic golf coming to Europe and another dramatic Solheim Cup on the horizon. We look forward to sharing this journey with our fans around the world.”
