US fantasy sports and betting provider DraftKings has unveiled the appointment of Marie Donoghue as its new chief business and growth officer.
Donoghue joins from retail and content giant Amazon, where she last served as vice president of US sports content and partnerships. Her time there involved securing Amazon Prime Video’s first set of major US sports rights, picking up Thursday Night Football NFL rights for the domestic market. Before her time at Amazon, running from 2018 to earlier this month, she had spent 18 years at heavyweight sports broadcaster ESPN.
In that time, she rose to eventually become the executive vice president of global business and content strategy.
In her new position, she will be “pivotal in driving DraftKings’ future growth as the company continues to explore opportunities to better serve its customers,” DraftKings has stated.
She will be in charge of working with existing teams to discover new and sustainable growth avenues, and also of “spearheading various internal processes.”
Donoghue has said: “I am thrilled to be joining DraftKings during this exciting phase and have long admired the organization’s steady rise as an industry innovator. This is a special opportunity to expand on its industry-leading position and propel the company to new heights.”
