UEFA, European soccer’s governing body, has kicked off another two tender processes for the next media rights cycle covering its top men’s club competitions.
The Swiss body launched a tender in Romania on January 22 (earlier this week), as well as a process covering ‘in-ship and in-flight’ rights yesterday. These tenders are for broadcast rights covering the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 seasons of the top-tier UEFA Champions League (UCL), second-tier UEFA Europa League, and third-tier UEFA Europa Conference League (which from next season will rebrand to the UEFA Conference League).
Currently, rights to the UCL in Romania are shared between Clever Media, Digi Sport, and Telekom Romania. In-ship and in-flight rights to the various pan-continental UEFA club competitions, meanwhile, have been held by Sport 24, the in-flight and in-ship entertainment service owned by international sports agency IMG, for the last nine years.
Tenders have already taken place in neighboring countries to Romania, including Bulgaria, Hungary, and Serbia.
The sales are being handled by Team Marketing, UEFA’s partner agency for media and commercial rights sales across its club competitions. All inquiries should be directed to info@team.ch, with a deadline for submissions of February 19 for the Romania tender, and February 20 for the in-ship and in-flight process.
UEFA’s most recent tender process for club competitions was launched in Turkey in late December, with a deadline of January 22 set for bids in that market.

By GlobalDataIn late November, meanwhile, a tender was launched covering the rights in sub-Saharan Africa.
In terms of deals struck, last week saw DAZN Canada retain exclusive rights in that market to all UEFA’s men’s club competitions for the next three campaigns.
The deal marks the third consecutive cycle in which DAZN has partnered with UEFA to broadcast the competitions in Canada since taking over as exclusive rights holder from Canadian pay-television broadcaster TSN in May 2018.
From the 2024-25 season, the UCL will take on a new single-league format, with the competition expanding from 32 to 36 teams, and incorporating 189 matches instead of the current 125.
