Warner Bros. Discovery, the US media giant, has expanded its slate of US college sports broadcasts through a new multi-year agreement with the Mountain West conference to broadcast its games.

Through the deal, WBD will air a full slate of 14 Mountain West college football games per season on linear TV through its TruTV basic cable channel, as well as on its Max (formerly known as HBO Max) OTT streaming subscription service.

TruTV broadcasts will start with the August 29 fixture between Sacramento State and San Jose State and will run through the November 2 game between Wyoming and New Mexico.

The programming will be run on TruTV as part of a programming block from WBD’s TNT Sports property, which has not broadcast college football since 2006 but alongside the Mountain West will also show College Football Playoff bowl games in 2024 onwards through a sublicensing deal with Disney-owned ESPN agreed in May.

Speaking on the tie-up, Mountain West commissioner Gloria Nevarez stated: “TNT Sports has always been a leader in sports broadcasting, and adding one of the top conferences in the FBS to its lineup will certainly be a benefit to Mountain West and college football fans across the country."

WBD becomes Mountain West’s third rightsholder for the 2024 season following other coverage agreements struck with Paramount Global-owned CBS and Fox Corp for another 49 games on national TV.
