Eleven Sports seals two-year IJF rights deal in four markets
Eleven Sports, the international pay-television broadcaster, has acquired rights to major events organised by the International Judo Federation in four of its seven markets.
Exclusive rights to the 2017 and 2018 World Judo Championships have been secured in Belgium, Luxembourg and USA, while the action will also be shown live in Italy on a non-exclusive basis.
This year's World Championships got under way in Budapest yesterday, while the 2018 edition is slated for Baku.
Eleven Sports said it has also acquired exclusive rights in the same territories to the season-long World Judo Tours for the remainder of 2017 and 2018. The World Judo Tour is made up of Grands Prix and Grand Slams.
Danny Menken, group managing director, Eleven Sports, said: “Eleven Sports aims to meet un-met demand, making underserved and niche content available to fans everywhere. This acquisition helps us achieve this goal.”
Eleven Sports also has operations in Poland, Singapore and Taiwan.
