IMG's Kelly fulfils potential with promotion to head global sales
IMG, the international sports and entertainment company, has promoted Adam Kelly to head global sales at its IMG Media division, taking the role of senior vice president worldwide sales.
Kelly previously led EMEA sales and worldwide business development.
In 2014, Sportcal identified Kelly as a rising star of the international sports agencies in an article in Sportcal Insight magazine, quoting Joseph Villeflayoux of the FISE action sports series, which is represented by IMG: “Adam is a really visionary guy. When we started discussing with agencies, Adam was the first to give a really concrete proposal. Since the beginning he believed in the potential of the series. After a few discussions, he sent us a proposal with numbers, with provisional distribution forecasts and provisional revenues. Adam is really pragmatic.”
Kelly joined IMG in the research division in 2001 before being appointed to run the sales finance team managing IMG Media’s contracting and financial services department. A move into media rights and acquisitions followed shortly after, where he played an important role in the restructuring of the sales processing and rights management system used throughout IMG Media.
In 2012, Kelly became IMG Media’s senior vice president of global business development, moving up from the role of senior vice president marketing and commercial director.
IMG said: “He played a key role in IMG's recent long-term joint venture with Euroleague and will continue to be involved in the project going forward. He is involved in a number of other significant relationships, including IMG’s consultancy with the IOC, the recent acquisition of UFC, the global expansion of broadcast rights for World Snooker and action sports, including IMG's fully-owned 24/7 action sports channel EDGEsport.”
