Following four days of outstanding performances in near perfect conditions, the eyes of the Waterski world were all on Ukraine this weekend. With Finals in Slalom, Tricks and Jump just concluded, the very best U21 athletes from 22 countries fought hard to capture the coveted titles of world champion in all three disciplines of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF)

This was the first day of the IWWF U21 WATERSKI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS at the magnificent Sentosa Waterski Club site in Dnipro. With 85 athletes from 22 countries taking part in the Opening Ceremony, the Athletes Oath was taken by Ukrainian Skier Prosvietova Stanislava. Kuno Ritschard, IWWF President, joined site owner Alexey Martynov and City Vice Mayor Oleksandr Sanzhara at the athletes parade against the city’s historic backdrop.

The stage is set and fully prepared in Dnipro Ukraine for the arrival of 88 athletes from 23 countries who will compete in Slalom, Tricks and Jump. The World U21 Waterski Championships of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) is where the Open stars of the future will prove themselves on July 13/16. This year, the current rising standards will certainly create some sensations based on recent outstanding performances.

In the spirit of Peace & Sport, the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) recently completed a two-day waterski and wakeboard coaching seminar in Pyongyang, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPR Korea). The Peace & Sport organisation, based in Monaco and working in five continents, helps to make sport a vehicle for tolerance, respect, sharing and citizenship.
