Infront brought in to help revive French rugby's Stade Toulousain
Infront Sports & Media, the Switzerland-based international sports agency, has teamed up with French rugby union’s Stade Toulousain in a long-term partnership that will involve the company handling the top-flight club’s media and marketing rights.
Under the 10-year deal, Infront, which has offices in Paris, will be responsible for marketing Stade Toulousain’s sponsorship, hospitality, media and digital rights, integrating its own experts with the club’s existing sales team.
The announcement coincided with the appointment of former Stade Toulousain captain Didier Lacroix as the south-west club’s new president, in succession to René Bouscatel.
Stade Toulousain are one of the most famous names in French rugby, having been crowned champions of Europe on four occasions, but have endured a disappointing campaign in 2016-17, finishing a lowly 12th in the country's Top 14, and progressing no further than the quarter-finals of the European Rugby Champions Cup.
Jean-François Jeanne, managing director of Infront France, said: “The discussions with René Bouscatel and the teams of the club were very fruitful. We share the same values and a true vision for the future of the club and I have confidence in Didier Lacroix at the head of Stade Toulousain to bring it back to its rightful position in France and Europe. It is with great enthusiasm that we put our resources at the disposal of Stade Toulousain.”
Lacroix added: “Toulousain is partnering today with the world leader in sports marketing and this represents a cultural evolution for the club; above all it is a very important step forward that will give us new vigour.
“Infront will help us to develop our revenues and open up opportunities internationally, which is essential to increase the club's reach. The teams are already working for the launch of the 2017-18 season. The partners and all the economic players who have been around Stade Toulousain for so many years can rest assured about its promising future and especially its unlimited ambition.”
