Sunset+Vine named host broadcaster of 2017 Badminton World Championships
Sunset+Vine, the UK-based television production company, has been awarded the host broadcast contract for badminton's Total BWF World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland later this year.
The partnership with Badminton Scotland was announced during the Yonex All England Championships in Birmingham, the annual tournament of which Sunset+Vine has been the host broadcaster for the past 15 years.
The company carried out the same role for the badminton competition at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, for which it was the host broadcaster.
Anne Smillie, chief executive of Badminton Scotland, said: “Sunset+Vine has a large sporting portfolio, and a long association with the All England. We are looking forward to bringing their expertise in outside broadcasts to our World Championships. They have a great reputation in the television industry and are used to working on major sporting events so we are confident we have made the best possible choice.
“We want the excitement and drama of the Championships to be seen all over the world by those badminton fans who can’t be in Glasgow.”
Jeff Foulser, chairman of Sunset+Vine, added: “We relish the opportunity of bringing together Sunset+Vine’s global sports events expertise to the Total BWF World Championships 2017 – and making this a championship that’s as exhilarating to watch on screen, as it will be for the thousands that make the journey to Scotland to see in person.”
The World Championships will be staged at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena from 21 to 27 August.
Late last month, the BBC, the UK's public-service broadcaster, announced it will live stream the championships. In addition, a one-hour highlights programme will be shown the day after the finals.
